Lost Dog Couldn’t Find His Way Back Home So He Turned Himself In The Police At 3 A.M.

It’s not uncommon for criminals to eventually turn themselves in, but this particular dog from Odessa was no ordinary culprit.

His crime?

Being too irresistibly cute—and he definitely turned himself in!

While his German Shepherd side made his owner, Edward Alvarado, think he’d make the perfect guard dog, Chico’s Husky genes won the day. Instead of guarding, this curious and friendly pup would much rather shower everyone with love.

With boundless energy and a penchant for mischief, boredom was simply not an option for Chico.

One night, Chico’s curiosity got the best of him, and he wandered off from his home without anyone noticing.

A Midnight Visit to the Police Station

Around 3 AM, Chico strolled into the Odessa Police Department, about a mile away from home.

The young dog casually walked in, stood on his hind legs, and placed his paws on the counter—as if he had something important to report!

The officers were in shock. It’s not every day a dog just strolls into a police station!

They couldn’t communicate with Chico, but it was clear he wasn’t afraid—he was simply looking for a bit of fun.

And the fun he got! The officers couldn’t resist the charm of this goofy pup and spent some time playing fetch with him.

But with no idea who he belonged to, they posted photos of Chico online in hopes that someone would recognize him.

The Mystery Unfolds

Chico was wearing a collar, but his tags were damaged, making it impossible to identify him right away.

Animal Control was called in to scan for a microchip, but Chico wasn’t having any of it. Fearing he’d be taken to a shelter, he made a quick escape—likely wandering even further away.

The Happy Ending

As it turns out, Chico wasn’t lost after all. He knew exactly how to get back to his owner! When Alvarado woke up, Chico was right there, as though nothing had happened.

Alvarado was stunned when he saw photos of Chico online, courtesy of his cousin. He had no idea his pup was capable of such antics.

Relieved to know Chico was safe, Alvarado called the police to let them know his mischievous pup had returned home.

The officers, amused by the whole situation, updated their post, inviting Chico to visit again anytime he liked.

A Clever Pup with a Big Personality

While Chico’s midnight adventure could’ve ended tragically, his smarts kept him safe.

Alvarado is grateful to have such an intelligent dog, though he’s now extra cautious about Chico’s nighttime wanderings.

We have a feeling this won’t be the last time Chico, the “night rider,” makes a surprise visit to the local police!
