Euthanasia seemed the easiest option, but Ramone’s zest for life inspired her rescuers to give her a chance. And she took it with gusto.

“This little puppy was so full of joy,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis shared in a Facebook post. “She wanted to play with a ball, loved belly rubs, and was eager to give kisses to anyone who’d let her.”

The Road to Recovery

The surgery to save Ramone’s life was complicated, but the veterinary team fought hard to give her a new start.

Thankfully, she made an impressive recovery, proving herself to be a true fighter. Ramone’s resilience and bravery inspired everyone around her.

Months later, when her wounds had healed, Ramone was ready to live life as a puppy. Despite her paralyzed back legs, she managed to get around on her own.

However, after realizing that her back legs were limiting her mobility, the team made the tough decision to amputate her rear legs and tail, ensuring her the best possible quality of life.

Ramone adapted beautifully, growing stronger every day.

“She’s an incredible warrior,” her rescuers shared. “She has no idea she’s different—she’s one of the happiest souls we’ve ever met.”

Living Life to the Fullest

Ramone became a beloved member of the shelter, spoiled daily with her favorite toys: stuffed animals that she proudly showed off to everyone.

“She’s seven months old, around 20 pounds, and absolutely perfect the way she is. She’s curious, playful, and loves everyone she meets,” the shelter shared. “She deserves the moon, the stars… and all the stuffed animals in the world.”

For now, Ramone is learning to balance on two legs, but soon, she’ll be fitted with custom wheels, allowing her even greater freedom.

Ramone reminds everyone that it’s okay to be a little different—what matters most is living each day with gratitude and joy.
