As the shelter staff examined the dogs, they noticed something unusual—both pups had shiny objects glued to their foreheads.

Upon closer inspection, they realized the dogs were wearing jewelry, something none of the staff had ever seen in their years of animal care.

The Adorable Duo Finds a Home

Peanut Butter, a Beagle and Pug mix, and Jelly, a Chihuahua mix, had the jewels and glue carefully removed by the shelter’s veterinary team to ensure there were no harmful substances.

Although the glue didn’t cause lasting damage, both dogs were left with scars from secondary burns on their foreheads.

Despite this, the two dogs were in good spirits and eager to find a loving home. Soon, a kind family adopted them, giving them the love and care they deserved.

However, after their owner passed away, Peanut Butter and Jelly found themselves without anyone to look after them.

Back at the Shelter

Once again, the pups were brought back to Sonoma County Animal Services.

Now, seniors have been transferred to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, a San Francisco non-profit that helps older dogs find homes.

Their foster mom, Lisa Arden, took them in and showered them with affection.

“They are very sweet and friendly dogs who are great around people and other dogs. They continue to blossom, showing their silly personalities. They are still active and love to run around and play,” Arden told The Dodo.

She also noted that Jelly was the boss, often telling Peanut Butter what to do.

A Forever Home at Last

After three months in foster care with no adoption applications, Arden decided to make a TikTok video to help find them a forever home.

The video quickly went viral, and the charming duo won the hearts of many viewers online.

On October 26, 2023, Arden shared the exciting news that Peanut Butter and Jelly had a virtual meet-and-greet with their potential new dad, and it went incredibly well.

Arden was confident they had found the perfect home and couldn’t wait for the adoption to be finalized.

We’re thrilled for Peanut Butter and Jelly, and we wish them many happy adventures with their new dad in the days ahead!
