Nothing is more heartbreaking for an animal rescuer than arriving to help a dog, only to find it’s too late.
It can shatter anyone’s heart, leaving them wondering if only they had been there sooner, things might have turned out differently.
These tragic situations shouldn’t happen. More must be done to prevent such abandonment.
This story is about two struggling puppies, left alone on a remote mountain near a garbage dump.
Puppies Living in Garbage
Rescuers rushed to the mountains after receiving a call about two puppies abandoned there.
When they arrived, they found the puppies huddled beside a large pile of trash—a heartbreaking sight. It’s unimaginable that someone could leave them in such a desolate place.
The puppies were barely responsive, seemingly oblivious to their rescuers’ presence.
The team gently picked up the pups and hurried them to the car, where they turned on the heater to help them regain their body temperature, as the mountain air was bitterly cold.
A Heartbreaking Discovery
At the vet, the team realized one of the puppies was unresponsive. Relief washed over them when they confirmed she was still breathing.
But the other puppy, visibly shaken, looked up at them with a sad, defeated gaze.
A Difficult Recovery
After a full examination, the vets determined that one of the puppies could not be saved. Her lungs were filled with blood, likely from a severe injury.
Letting her go was the only humane option, as nothing more could be done.
They focused all their efforts on the surviving puppy, now named Lily. During her checkup, she tested positive for parvovirus—a serious illness requiring careful treatment.
Lily refused to eat initially, and her digestive issues made it difficult.
The team kept Lily on IV fluids, ensuring she received all the nutrients she needed.
After seven days of treatment, Lily’s appetite returned.
She started eating well, and her digestion began to improve.
Over a month of recovery, she transformed into a happier, healthier dog. Her tail wagged constantly, she played enthusiastically, and her appetite returned in full.
Lily will soon be vaccinated, and once fully recovered, she’ll be ready for adoption.
I hope Lily finds a family who will give her the love and care she deserves. She’s earned her chance at a joyful life.
