Life can be cruel to stray dogs. Many are abused or ignored when they seek help, leaving them to lead solitary lives far from humans.
While this paints a grim picture, there are always exceptions—kind-hearted people who step in to rewrite these dogs’ stories.
For Wilma, that person was Selina, who not only rescued her but also helped her overcome her fears and begin a new chapter in life.
Selina’s First Encounter
When Selina first saw Wilma wandering the streets, it was clear the dog was in dire condition.

Malnourished and hairless, likely from a skin disease, Wilma seemed wary of people and unsure of their intentions.
Determined to help, Selina carefully approached her, offering the only food she had on hand—Pringles.
Wilma ate them eagerly, but her fear of humans kept her from getting too close.
“She kept running away from me,” Selina told The Dodo. “I asked my boyfriend to support me, so we drove back.”

Wilma continued to evade capture, retreating to a remote village. Selina persisted, throwing food to gradually earn her trust.
Eventually, she succeeded in placing a leash around Wilma’s neck and gently secured her in a kennel for transport.
A Shocking Discovery
Selina and her boyfriend rushed Wilma to a veterinary clinic for examination.
The vet’s findings surprised everyone: Wilma had recently given birth to puppies.

When asked if she’d seen the pups, Selina said no. She immediately set out to search for them, knowing the odds were against her.
After a long and challenging search, Selina found the puppies hidden beneath some ruins. There were three in total, huddled together for safety.
“I put them in a little bag, hung it on my scooter, and rushed them to the vet,” she explained.
A Family Reunited
The puppies were examined and treated, and after they were stable, they were reunited with their mother.
Wilma, despite her weakened state, nursed them right away, visibly relieved to have her babies back.

But just as things seemed to be looking up, tragedy struck. One of the puppies passed away unexpectedly, leaving everyone heartbroken.
Despite their grief, Selina and the veterinary team focused on ensuring the surviving pups and their mother received the care they needed.
A Happy Ending
With time, love, and care, Wilma made a remarkable recovery. Her fur grew back, and she regained her health and strength.
The puppies, too, thrived under the clinic’s care.

Once they were ready, the entire family was transported to a dog hotel, where they could continue their recovery while waiting for forever homes.
Selina remains committed to ensuring that Wilma and her pups find loving families who will provide them with the care and happiness they deserve.
Wilma’s story is a testament to the power of compassion, persistence, and second chances.
Thanks to Selina, a stray dog and her puppies now have a brighter future ahead.
