As Prue, a rescuer from Mission Pawsible, drove down a busy road, something strange caught her eye.
She noticed a bag tossed from a car that, as traffic passed, flew open to reveal a tiny puppy inside.
Trusting her instincts, Prue pulled over and rushed to help.
The Rescue
Prue stepped out and saw the 3-month-old puppy dodging traffic and scurrying toward a corner. “It seemed like whoever threw the bag intended for her to go over the bridge and into the ravine.
But she bounced off the guardrail, and the bag burst open, sending her across the road,” Prue recalled.
Despite the busy road, Prue carefully approached, hoping not to scare the frightened pup. Thinking quickly, she pulled a lasagna from her shopping bag, hoping the smell would calm and attract the puppy.
The food worked wonders—drawn by the scent, the pup relaxed. Prue gently stroked her and spoke in a soft voice, building trust.
The pup even lifted her paw, signaling she was ready to be picked up. “It was one of the most beautiful moments I’ve experienced in rescue,” Prue said.
Finding Safety
Since the animal clinics were closed, Prue couldn’t bring the pup to a shelter right away. With several dogs already at home, she called a friend who kindly agreed to host the pup for the night.
Over the next couple of months, the pup, now named Ellie, thrived in foster care, slowly learning to trust people again.
A New Life
Not long after, Ellie met her forever person, Maria.
The two connected instantly and have since become inseparable. Now Ellie enjoys long days at the beach, plays with her furry sibling, and lives the joyful life she deserves.
Prue felt certain Ellie would be okay, and she was right. Today, Ellie is surrounded by love, adventure, and plenty of affection—exactly the life she was meant for. Good girl, Ellie!
