This Tiny Dog Was Surrendered To A Shelter After His Owner Got Evicted From The Home

Leaving home is hard for anyone, and dogs are no different.

Due to a growing housing crisis, many people are forced to give up their beloved pets.

Palmer, a tiny two-year-old Chihuahua mix, is a heartbreaking example of this.

His life was turned upside down after his family’s eviction and their subsequent divorce. In a single day, Palmer went from a loving home to having nothing.

Not His Fault

Thankfully, the kind folks at Lovebugs Rescue stepped in quickly. Upon hearing Palmer’s sad story, they didn’t hesitate to offer him and his brother, Presley, a safe place to stay.

“Palmer lost his home through no fault of his own,” the rescue wrote on Facebook. “His family was being evicted, and their dogs had nowhere to go.”

Fortunately, Palmer soon found a foster home where he fit right in.

A Friendly and Well-Mannered Pup

Thanks to his previous life in a home, Palmer was already well-socialized and well-behaved. He was great with people of all ages, but he especially loved children.

“Palmer is a 2-year-old, 13-pound Chihuahua mix who is very well-mannered around the house, kid and dog-friendly, and loves everyone he meets,” the rescue shared. “He’s a friendly guy who loves being pet and is dog-friendly too.”

Despite losing his family, Palmer didn’t let his circumstances hold him back.

He embraced new people with open paws and loved going out on adventures. Beneath his sad eyes was a playful and happy little dog who was eager for a fresh start.

A New Beginning

It didn’t take long for Palmer to capture the hearts of his new family.

A couple, moved by his story, came to meet him—and it was love at first sight. They decided to make Palmer a part of their family and take him to his forever home.

“Palmer has joined his new family,” the rescue happily announced on Facebook.

The moment Palmer realized he was finally getting a new family, he couldn’t stop smiling. His future was bright, and from that point on, he’d never be alone again.

If Palmer could speak, he’d probably want to reassure his former family: “Mom, Dad, I’m okay. I have a wonderful life now!”

Here’s to a happy life, Palmer!
