Being different isn’t a flaw—it’s a gift, and Honey Stubbs is living proof. This two-legged pup has turned her unique condition into a testament to strength, courage, and sweetness.
After being rescued from dire circumstances, Honey’s journey with Rescue PAWS has been nothing short of inspiring.
Her early days were challenging, but she was determined to show the world just how special she is.
From Fear to Friendship
Honey’s story began when kind locals discovered her living in heartbreaking conditions.
Missing the lower halves of her hind legs, she was malnourished and covered in sores caused by dragging her legs on the ground.
Even more heartbreaking was her fear of people.
“Being so young and left to fend for herself, Honey came in terrified of people, underweight, and with sores all over her back legs,” Rescue PAWS shared on Facebook.
During a feeding run, Becca and her colleagues at Rescue PAWS found Honey.
They immediately recognized she couldn’t survive on her own and brought her to their shelter.
A Rough Start
At the shelter, Honey received her first bath, her wounds were treated, and she was finally safe. But emotionally, she remained withdrawn.
Terrified and unsure, Honey spent days hiding in a corner, refusing to interact with anyone.
Anytime someone approached, she would retreat even further.
But then, a turning point came in the form of Holly, one of the volunteers.
Trusting Again
Holly understood Honey’s fear and chose a gentle approach. She spent countless hours sitting quietly nearby, speaking in a calm and soothing voice, giving Honey the space she needed to feel safe.
And then, one day, something extraordinary happened—Honey crawled out of her hiding spot and into Holly’s lap.
She even rolled over, asking for belly rubs.
It was a breakthrough moment. Honey had finally decided to trust again.
Unveiling Her True Spirit
As the days turned into weeks, Honey’s personality began to shine. Her caregivers marveled at her playful and quirky nature.
Despite her physical challenges, Honey showed incredible strength and adaptability.
“She’s running circles around the others, even with just her two front legs,” her caregivers shared. “And she absolutely LOVES beach walks!”
The Sunshine Dog
Honey Stubbs quickly became the rescue’s Sunshine Dog, radiating positivity and joy to everyone she met. Her energy is boundless, and her smile is as big as her heart.
What stands out most is her resilience.
Honey doesn’t let her disability slow her down—she inspires everyone around her with her determination and zest for life.
Ready for a Forever Home
Though she’s thriving at Rescue PAWS, Honey is still waiting for her forever family.
“All she asks for is a chance to find a home with people who embrace her uniqueness and are patient as she adjusts,” the team shared on Facebook.
Honey’s journey is a beautiful reminder of the power of love, patience, and kindness.
Whoever adopts this remarkable dog will gain not just a pet but a lifelong friend and inspiration.
When the time comes, there’s no doubt Honey Stubbs will light up her new family’s life, just as she has done for everyone at Rescue PAWS.
Here’s to Honey and the incredible future that awaits her!
