Woman Shocked To Find A Living ‘Ornament’ Hiding In Her Christmas Tree

Imagine hearing an unusual sound coming from your beautifully decorated Christmas tree. But here’s the twist – it’s a fake tree!

Brett Ingram from Dallas, Texas, returned home after her second day at a new job and immediately noticed something strange.

At first, it was a faint sound that she couldn’t place, but then she heard a little sneeze. To her surprise, the sound was coming from inside her Christmas tree.

Upon closer inspection, she noticed a set of eyes staring back at her, cleverly hidden among the ornaments. Shocked? That’s an understatement.

The Opossum Ornament

This holiday season, there’s a heartwarming comedy unfolding starring an astonished woman and an opossum that just wanted to be part of the Christmas decorations.

At first, Brett thought she had heard something odd but couldn’t quite figure it out.

Then came the sneeze. She peered around the tree but still saw nothing.

Then, the mystery deepened.

“I saw it—a huge, long, naked tail hanging from the back side of my tree. I moved my eyes up slowly, trying to stay still because I wasn’t sure what I was seeing,” Brett shared with The Dodo. “And then I saw it—a giant, breathing ball of gray fur.”

She froze in disbelief.

“I backed up, and when I looked from the front of the tree, I saw his adorable face staring right at me,” she added.

There, nestled among the Christmas ornaments, was a gray opossum, seemingly content in its new holiday home.

Brett had no idea how it had gotten there or how long it had been hiding. If it weren’t for its little sneezes, she might have never noticed the unexpected guest.

“I’m literally freaking out. I have no idea how this opossum got in my house or how it ended up in my tree, and I don’t know what to do,” Brett said in her now-viral TikTok video, which has millions of views.

A Solo Christmas Adventure

With her boyfriend away on business, Brett was left to handle the situation on her own.

Armed with rubber gloves, she tried to coax the opossum out of the tree, but it wasn’t going down without a fight.

It seemed the opossum wasn’t keen on leaving its festive hideout just yet.

Brett called a wildlife expert, but the advice wasn’t what she had hoped.

The expert informed her that they don’t do house calls at night, so it was up to her to remove the opossum herself.

Determined, she set out on the task, but it wasn’t easy. The opossum climbed down from the tree and ran under the couch.

According to Brett, this chase went on for what felt like forever—her trying to catch him, and the opossum darting under the couch each time.

“He was huge! The video makes him look like a baby, but trust me, he was not small,” she said.

A Feel-Good Christmas Moment

After what felt like an eternity, Brett finally managed to catch the opossum and safely release him outside.

Despite the initial shock, the entire experience left Brett smiling. As a huge animal lover, she was able to appreciate the unexpected holiday visitor.

“It made my entire month, actually, despite my initial shock. I’ll never forget Christmas 2023,” she said.

From sneezing surprises to a tiny opossum causing a festive frenzy, this Christmas will certainly be one Brett will remember for years to come.
