For Roxy, a sweet Staffordshire Terrier mix, life has been anything but easy.

Despite once being adopted into what seemed like her forever home, she now finds herself back in a California shelter, waiting and watching as other dogs find new families while she remains overlooked.

Roxy’s Heartbreaking Journey

Roxy was born at Valley Animal Center in Fresno, California, alongside her seven littermates.

From the start, she was a playful, affectionate pup who seemed destined for a happy life. She found her home, but just a year later, she was returned to the shelter.

A shelter volunteer, Jackie, posted a heart-wrenching video of Roxy looking defeated behind the kennel bars.

Her return came because her new owners couldn’t adapt her to life around their livestock.

“She was adopted out from us fairly young, but unfortunately returned due to her dislike towards livestock animals,” Jackie shared on TikTok.

Now, Roxy has spent over 380 days back in the shelter, waiting for someone special to give her a second chance.

“She’s The Whole Package”

Despite her tough circumstances, Roxy remains hopeful that her forever family is out there. The shelter staff does everything they can to care for her, but Roxy’s life in a tiny kennel is a far cry from the spacious yard she once enjoyed.

Regular walks can’t replace the freedom she lost, but her spirit remains unbroken.

According to Valley Animal Center, Roxy is an energetic and enthusiastic dog. With time, patience, and love, she could thrive again in the right home.

This time, her requirements are a bit more specific. The staff believes Roxy would do best in a home where she’s the only pet, given her previous challenges.

“A household with children over the age of 5 would be a great fit for her. She needs to be the only pet in the household because she doesn’t get along well with other animals.

But trust us, she’s the only pet you’ll ever need. She’s the whole package—playful and loving,” the shelter team wrote on Facebook.

Ready for Her Forever Family

Roxy is working hard to prepare for her next chapter. With the help of trainers, she’s mastering social skills and obedience, proving that she has so much to offer. Her personality shines through, and she’s eager to become part of a family again.

Though she’s still confined within the shelter’s walls, Roxy is ready for the adventure of finding a new, loving home.

“Roxy is ready for a loving family that will smother her with all the love and kisses she could ever have,” her caregivers shared.

This time, everyone hopes it’ll be forever. Roxy’s journey may have had its setbacks, but with her resilience and charm, she’s bound to find the perfect family who will never let her go.
