Sad Puppy Had To Watch All Of His Friends Leave But Then He Found His Special Person

Watching a pup enter a loving home for the first time is a moment of pure joy. For dog lovers, knowing that from now on, all the pup has to worry about is which game to play or how much to cuddle is priceless!

When Carlie Cahill first met Toad, he was just a little puppy in a big litter, enjoying his early days with his siblings in a foster home in Oklahoma.

But soon, all his littermates were adopted, leaving Toad without the company of his brothers and sisters.

Being a huge dog lover, Carlie couldn’t stand the thought of Toad feeling lonely. So, she made the most loving and noble decision.

The Perfect Match

Before Carlie officially brought Toad into her home, she had been visiting him regularly at her mom’s house.

Toad’s mom had been rescued by a shelter, and after she became pregnant, she was placed in Carlie’s mom’s care.

Toad’s mom gave birth to ten healthy puppies, nine of whom quickly found their forever homes. Toad was the only one left behind, and Carlie decided to change that.

At around six months old, Toad was officially adopted by Carlie, and from that day on, they’ve been inseparable!

A Forever Bond

“I think he was about six months old when I officially adopted him, but I met him right after he was born because my mom fostered (and then kept) his mom! So he’s been with me for most of his life,” Carlie shared on Instagram.

At the time, Carlie was still living in a college dorm, but she made the decision to rent an apartment during her last semester—without telling anyone—just so she could keep Toad with her. In return, Toad showered her with endless kisses and a happy, affectionate personality!

Even though Toad has grown into a strong, 80-pound Staffie, he’s remained the sweetest dog. He welcomes all of Carlie’s friends with a wagging tail and never loses his cheerful spirit.

Toad also got to see his mom regularly, as Carlie’s mom decided to keep her.

They had countless playdates together until Toad’s mom moved out of state. Despite the separation, Toad remained full of joy, knowing he always had Carlie by his side.

An 80-Pound Lovebug

Toad has a few quirky habits, like bumping into cars despite having perfect vision and getting spooked by things like leaves during walks. But he’s also very protective of Carlie, and while he’s wary of strangers at first, once he warms up to them, he turns into a lovable cuddle bug.

“Toad is just a big baby. He thinks he’s a lap dog, even though he weighs 80 pounds. He’s a very happy boy,” Carlie told GeoBeats Animals.

Recently, Carlie adopted a senior Chihuahua named Link, and Toad was over the moon, thinking he finally had a forever playmate! Though Link is more of a loner and doesn’t share Toad’s enthusiasm for playing, it hasn’t dampened Toad’s affection for him.

“Toad has tried to play with Link—it’s very cute—but Link isn’t really interested. Still, Toad loves him,” Carlie shared.

A Happy Life Together

Now, Toad and Link enjoy life in their Oklahoma home, cuddling with Carlie and soaking up her love. Toad, despite being all grown up, is still a child at heart. He loves going on walks, playing, and embarking on new adventures every day.
