March had been the happiest dog when he learned his time at the ACCT Philly shelter was ending, and a brighter future awaited him.

Sadly, his joy was short-lived when his adoption fell through, and he was returned to the Philadelphia shelter.

A Turn of Misfortune

This sudden reversal took a toll on March. Back in his kennel, he became sick and withdrawn, sinking into a deep sadness.

He spent his days staring at the gray walls, isolating himself from the world around him. But just as his hope seemed to be fading, fate took another turn.

Local news reporter Dawn Timmeney saw March in his lonely state and knew she had to help. She posted about him on her Facebook, sharing how wonderful he truly was. She wrote:

“I’d be a great running buddy. Imagine all the compliments you’ll get when people say, ‘Where’d you get that great-looking dog?’ Bring the family down for a meet-and-greet, and who knows… I could be running with you before March turns to April.”

The post quickly gained attention, and soon, there was good news on the horizon.

A New Beginning

ACCT Philly announced on their Facebook page that March had been rescued!

Although he hadn’t found a permanent home yet, he had been transferred to one of the shelter’s rescue partners, a well-respected local group.

They assured everyone that March would be placed for adoption through their no-kill shelter.

Hearing this, March’s spirits lifted. He was overjoyed and eager to embrace his new life, filled with love, belly rubs, and endless cuddles.

His story also gave the shelter a much-needed break, as March’s empty kennel could now serve as a safe space for another animal in need.

Final Thoughts

According to the ASPCA, approximately 3.1 million dogs enter shelters across the U.S. every year.

With so many animals in need of care and companionship, shelters rely on space and community support.

If you’re able, consider visiting your local shelter—whether to adopt or simply offer some companionship to a dog like March, your kindness can make a world of difference.
